Layer 550 - Men - Black

The fabric of this base layer is composed of 23% merino wool integrated into longitudinal channels made of polyamide and elastane. As a result, all moisture and sweat are absorbed into the wool, providing two key benefits: the sweat is not in direct contact with the skin, creating a true dry feeling, and the moisture retained in the wool is warmed by the body, forming an effective barrier against external cold. This premium merino wool can absorb up to 20% of its weight in moisture.

The EverdryAero fabric is a bi-stretch woven construction developed by incorporating a network of soluble yarns, which are dissolved during the dyeing process to reveal a grid of ventilation channels, an innovation from Payen.

With up to 65% stretch, a weight of just 90 g/m², and an apparent elastic modulus of 0.057 N/%, this exclusive fabric has been developed to achieve the perfect balance between elastic support, breathability, and fast drying.

The high fitted collar of this base layer helps retain body heat. Acting like the draft collar of a sleeping bag, it limits air circulation and reduces heat loss, keeping warm air trapped inside the garment. At the same time, the back panel covered by the pack is made lighter to ensure more even thermal regulation across the upper body.

This strategic zoning places a high thermal-performance fabric in areas of significant heat loss, and a highly breathable, moisture-wicking fabric in zones requiring greater ventilation. In this base layer, it combines our Everdry Merino fabric for warmth with our Everdry Aero fabric for enhanced breathability.

This flat seam, mainly used for base layers, reduces friction by eliminating bulk caused by traditional seam allowances. Combined with the use of textured (soft) thread, it creates a construction that is completely unnoticeable for the runner, making it the perfect choice for leggings and base layers.
